This is in fact an old font.  It is made in Portland stone.  Very hard and strong material.  It has a lead liner in the bowl.  This would work really well as an urn.  A raised urn planted.  There is a bit of damage in line with its age around the central column.  As can be seen from the pictures.  It is absolutely sound and a lovely item.
